My journey to AI didn’t start in a tech company — it started in the mountains, the savannahs, and the booking offices where real business happens.

After studying Marketing at university, I spent 25 years living inside the tourism industry from every angle, not observing it, but running it. I’ve travelled to all six continents and lived in major destinations around the world, including Johannesburg, London, Saalbach, and Queenstown, working alongside diverse cultures and talented people from every walk of life.

I worked as a tour guide across the UK and Europe, managed ski resorts, and ran a Big Five game lodge in South Africa. I founded iHolidays (now Private Places), leading safaris through South Africa’s Limpopo, and later built MY50 Motorcycles, an international platform sourcing motorcycles from Japanese auctions — a hobby that grew from 600 users to nearly 70,000, forcing me to learn AI and automation out of necessity, not theory. Alongside this, golf — a passion of mine since childhood — opened my eyes to how digital transformation is reshaping even the most traditional sports and coaching industries.

Along the way, I also led sales and marketing strategy for major tourism, advertising, and powersports businesses — giving me not just entrepreneurial experience, but corporate-level change management experience too.

That’s the common thread across everything I do: tourism, motorcycles, and golf aren’t random interests — they’re industries I’ve lived, built, and scaled from the inside. 

In every one of them, the hardest part was never the technology. It was people getting teams to trust new systems, adopt them, and grow alongside them instead of feeling replaced by them.
